UPGRADED AIRPORT TERMINAL OPENS

The $8.25 million upgrade to the Newcastle Airport terminal has been completed and passengers are now able to use the terminal.

Officially opened on 9 December 2005 by Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile, the substantially redeveloped terminal brings world class facilities to Australia’s fastest-growing regional airport and provides the Airport with scope to accommodate significant further growth in passenger numbers.

The completion of this redevelopment comes as Newcastle is awarded the prestigious title of Regional Airport of the Year 2005 at the Australian Airports Association annual awards.

Harris Wheeler has been involved with many aspects of the redevelopment process. Initially assisting with the drafting and negotiation of the 40 year lease and civil aviation operating agreement and most recently with the entire retail lease development including drafting and negotiating the retail lease agreements with the tenants.
